Philosophy Statement
I'm a licensed professional counselor based in Jefferson, Louisiana, with years of experience helping individuals and teens navigate some of life's most difficult moments. My practice, Thrive With Helena , was built on a simple belief: everyone deserves a safe, non-judgmental space to be heard.
I’m a Provisional licensed professional counselor , I believe that every person has the capacity for change and growth. I approach therapy with empathy and genuine curiosity, seeking to understand each client’s unique experience and challenges. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process, where the client and therapist work together to identify goals and create actionable strategies to achieve those goals. I believe their mental health is an intricately tied to physical and social factors, and a holistic approach to therapy is critical for a long lasting change. Ultimately, my goal as a counselor is to help my client cultivate a great sense of self-awareness resilience and life satisfaction.
Outside the therapy room, I'm deeply committed to my community in New Orleans area. I believe mental health care should be accessible, approachable, and free from stigma.
My Approach
My approach is person-centered, collaborative, and tailored to each individual's unique needs. I utilize evidence-based techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), coping skills development, emotional regulation strategies, and psychoeducation to help clients increase self-awareness, improve daily functioning, and build healthier patterns. I believe healing happens through connection, accountability, and learning healthier ways to navigate emotions. If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, you do not have to face it alone. I am here to support and encourage you through your healing journey.
